MCA has denied DAP national adviser Lim Kit Siang's accusation that the party failed to declare its stance against hudud in front of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak when he officiated an MCA function last Saturday.

MCA deputy president Wee Ka Siong said the mainstream and online media had both widely reported MCA president Liow Tiong Lai's speech, which spoke out against hudud.

"He clearly stated MCA's stance in rejecting hudud and that MCA is against the notion of having two sets of laws in Malaysia.

"We have also stressed that we are not against Islam as the religion of the federation but that we are only opposing this constitutional crisis," Wee said in a statement today.

Wee referred Kit Siang to MCA's website for the president speech and called on the veteran politician to "do his homework" and not "embarrass" himself.

"Lim and his son, Guan Eng, should not blame everything on MCA because DAP, with 38 parliamentary seat, is unable to even stop PAS from implementing hudud. This is the most embarrassing thing ever occurring in Malaysian politics," Wee said.

Guan Eng to MCA: Train your guns on Umno

Meanwhile, Guan Eng in a statement today called on MCA to train its guns against Umno instead of DAP as DAP has criticised PAS for its theocratic ambitions.

"Instead of criticising Umno, (MCA president) Liow has chosen to pin the blame on DAP and PAS, despite DAP openly criticising PAS for openly working with Umno to implement hudud, after failing to secure support from DAP and Pakatan," Guan Eng said.

PAS has declared its intention to table two Private Member's Bills in the next sitting of Parliament to allow for the implementation of hudud in Kelantan, while Umno has flirted with the Islamist party on lending its support.
