AG files sedition charge to protect Rosmah?

YOURSAY ‘So anyone can be charged with sedition if he/she ‘insults’ Rosmah?’

Kok to face sedition charge over video

Ferdtan: The pressure is on to hit out at the opposition, especially the non-Muslims. We don’t know why DAP’s Seputeh MP Teresa Kok is always the target. Is it because she is so popular, not only with the non-Malays but also with the Malays?

With this charge, we are becoming a laughing stock of the world, that a parody - a cynical political satire targeting at unnamed political leaders - can be brought to court.

Has the attorney-general (AG) lost his mind? Is this the harbinger of bigger things to come - a second Operation Lallang?

Bar Council, don’t you think this is time for the lawyers to walk again to call for rule of law? This is to duplicate the successful one led by former Bar Council president Ambiga Sreenevasan against the illegal fixing of appointments of judges.

The government cannot use laws to harass the opposition. In just one day, two most ridiculous charges are made against the opposition lawmakers: Kok and Selangor deputy speaker Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad.

The law is supposed to protect the people but it is now used to harass and persecute the political opponents of the BN government.

Versey: How about those who slaughtered chickens in public and smeared the  blood of the slaughtered chickens over a banner featuring photographs of some opposition leaders and offered a RM1,200 to slap Kok?

How about those who threatened May13 in Penang? Why are they not charged? To the public, these people are more of a threat to the public and the nation than the video by Kok, which was only poking fun at some imaginary public figures.

Quigonbond: Even if Kok was insinuating against certain government figures and their wives, how is that sedition? Criticism of the government is not sedition.

Fairplayer: Umno is resorting to sedition charges to score points? Worse still, it's for the sake of the PM wife Rosmah Mansor, for the video clearly reveals the whole truth about her self-serving nature at rakyat's expense.

Who is Rosmah? Is she the god of Malaysia? So anyone can be charged with sedition if he/she "insults" Rosmah?

Rosmah ought to be charged for lavishly spending the rakyat's money without permission. If the band of daylight robbers in Umno-BN can be "hududed", even I might support hudud.

Anonymous_3f4b: Why are Ibrahim Ali, Ridhuan Tee and Abdullah Zaik not charged with sedition yet? Is it because Perkasa, the hypocrite Muslim and extremist Isma, are above the law?

Speaking Sense: But the AG doesn't know how to prosecute, so does this mean outsourcing that to a mercenary at taxpayers' expense, again?

What is this country coming to? And what is the PM doing, apart from selling snake oil to civil servants?

P Dev Anand Pillai: A regime that is desperate will eventually see its destruction by its own making. You can put all the leaders away, but you will never to able to put away the principles and ideals that demand equality, accountability and good governance.

By putting leaders away, you create avenues for new ones to emerge. This will be another show trial, with its main intention of convicting Teresa Kok. As usual, it will also show how subservient and dumb the judiciary has become under this regime.

Squad 64: Very true and clear, selective persecution it is. It was CNY and my, oh my, we can’t have some humour? Again, no direct reference was made.

Look at the Indian movies, and see how they disgrace and misrepresent their politicians, police and government. No sedition, nobody is charged. Why?

Imagine what will happen if Malaysians made such films... let alone video clips.

Multi Racial: No where in the world can you find an AG who is so unfair.  He is supposed to be independent, but his AG’s Chambers works as if they are an extension of the Umno legal office.

There was nothing wrong with what Karpal Singh did, and so for Nik Nazmi Nik Mat, Teresa Kok and many others. But these irresponsible civil servants keep going after these good people hoping, to shut them up.

No, they can't and they never will. In spite of gerrymandering, cheating and the unfair Election Commission, Malaysians will be even more resolute to make sure these irresponsible politicians are "kicked out" of Parliament in GE14.

Peter Kandiah: Even if Teresa Kok had ever made any inference to Najib and Rosmah in the video, so be it. What is so wrong? The AG must explain how he deemed Najib and Rosmah as royalties and/or  untouchables.

Debater: This is a ridiculous charge.  I suggest that in future, opposition members just stick to issues and criticise BN on the basis of serious facts, since the BN does not have a sense of humour. Or as a matter of fact, honour.

Don't give them any excuse for using the police and the courts to oppress the opposition.

Rojak: Whatever the politics of the judges who get this case, if it isn't thrown out immediately for lacking prima facie grounds, it will be deeply worrying.

Tholu: I have resigned to the fact that the leaders of our country are clowns with limited intelligence, but nevertheless full of vengeance and nefariousness.

This country is surely going to the dogs; if it’s not already there.

Sedition Act is now the new ISA
