The attention on her ongoing divorce with her husband Raja Ahmad Shahrir Iskandar Raja does not seem to dent Nurul Izzah Anwar’s popularity as she comfortably leads the PKR vice-president race, according to unofficial results.

Nurul, the eldest daughter of PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim and also a second term Lembah Pantai MP, has amassed 13,164 votes among thirteen candidates vying for three elected VP spots.

Right before the PKR polls, Nurul’s ongoing divorce from her husband of 10 years  grabbed the headlines.

Batu MP Tian Chua ( left in photo ) is currently second according to the unofficial results, recording 11,862 votes.

PKR strategist Rafizi Ramli ( right in photo ) occupies third sport, comfortably ahead of the rest of the pack.

Nurul Izzah and Tian Chua are both incumbents for the VP post. Other incumbents have not been faring very well in the VP race - with Baru Bian occupying fifth spot, Kuantan MP Fuziah Salleh eighth, former Perak PKR chief Mustaffa Kamil Ayub in ninth and Padang Serai MP N Surendran in tenth place.

The other incumbent, Nibong Tebal MP Mansor Othman, dropped  out from the contest.

The party polls are almost nearing its conclusion, with one final lap scheduled for this weekend, which would involve major states such as Federal Territories, Selangor, and Negri Sembilan.

However, 17 branches nationwide had been ordered to hold their elections again following allegations of irregularities.

Meanwhile, deputy president contestant Saifuddin Nasution is still battling to keep up his chances even though incumbent deputy president Azmin Ali is still leading the race - with crucial states to conduct polling tomorrow and Sunday.
