MCA dances on hot coals over Isma

YOURSAY ‘It should talk to Umnoputras, they are the real power behind Isma.’

Don't make rash choices, Khairy tells MCA

Geronimo: MCA deputy president Wee Ka Siong, did you all read what Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin said, "As for Umno, we have stated our stand that we accept hudud as the law prescribed by Allah but we are studying the question of implementation," which means the hudud law is an accepted fact that it will be implemented, but the question is on how and when.

So what are you waiting for? Christmas? Chinese New Year? Deepavali?

Awakened: To all MCA and DAP members, my suggestion is stop opposing hudud in public immediately, especially MCA, which has no way of stopping Umno if they want to go ahead and vote for the implementation of hudud implementation together with PAS.

Just exercise your vote in Parliament. Nothing is permanent in this world. When Vietnam fell to the communist regime, many fled the country thinking that there was no future with communist rule. Look at Vietnam today. It is more capitalist than many western countries.

When an ideology doesn't work, the peoples will suffer for a while. The leaders have to change and will not stick to it forever. If PAS and Umno feel that they want to try out hudud in Kelantan, let them try.

There is no point trying to oppose and get blamed by the Muslims. Your points are heard and noted. If the majority MPs want hudud, so be it even though I personally think that it doesn't work.

Fair Play: Khairy, what do you mean by asking MCA not to sour ties with each other (read Umno)?

If they leave (which I doubt anyway), Umno would be reduced to just a Malay Muslim-based political party, the majority of whom are hardcore extremists.

P Dev Anand Pillai: The hudud introduction is just to spook the non-Malays so that they will all go back to the BN fold.

It will only be believed if the bill passes Parliament and through its readings becomes law after the Agong puts his stamp on it.

TakeMiddlepath: Khairy is talking rubbish. Remember in 1993; the Kelantan state assembly passed the Kelantan Syariah Criminal Bill (II) to introduce hudud law in Kelantan.

This bill was passed unanimously by all 36 state assembly members, including two from BN who were from Umno. Doesn't this speak volumes about hudud when a few of your comrades speak in favour of the bill by PAS.

As usual the tongue-tied PM is as quiet as a mouse. But recently, he was also in favour of the bill if I'm not mistaken. Correct me if I'm wrong here.

Hafidz Baharom: The fact that the government wants to form a group to discuss the implementation of hudud at all is telling enough, isn't it, YB?

MCA needs to represent the people they represent, and Umno is representing their own. As such, how can you ask MCA not to stick to their agenda?

ChaSL: BN is using PAS in this hudud fiasco, playing poker with Pakatan Rakyat.

Umno would the the last party in Malaysia to agree to implement hudud as almost every business they are in are ‘haram’, there's too much at stake.

EvenSteven: Let Brunei, which has just implemented hudud law, be the guinea pig for a year and then take it from there.

I hate to see Parliament House crawling with one-armed bandits.

MCA: Doesn't Isma know Article 8 on citizenship?

Malaysia Maju: MCA, it's better you close shop. Discrimination is a part of our life in Malaysia. Why are you wasting your time quoting the constitution to Isma? You should tell the same to Umno.

Carlim: MCA, for 50 years as a partner in BN, you can't convince the Malays in BN that the Chinese too are citizens of Malaysia.

Nopainnogain: But the prime minister of Malaysia says nothing about all these? Very strange to observe this from one of world’s most democratic countries, Switzerland.

Ketuanan Rakyat: MCA should address this issue with the Umnoputras who are the actual power behind Perkasa, Isma and other so-called ultra NGOs. Please stop pretending, these people are funded by Umno.

Oriole: So MCA what happened to your police report against Isma? And when the police does not take action as the rakyat expects, what plans do you have to address the increasing threats against minorities?

Relevancy: One can only wonder, is Malaysia moving forward as a progressive secular country or merely heading backward and will never achieve the high income status that we all want to aspire to?

From the looks of it, we do not need to bother about year 2020 as a vision to aspire to, when we can't even agree to unity and the bright future we want to aspire to.

Tanteo: What about the rulers, particularly from a state whose heir frequently spews out pearls of wisdom?

Aren't they the protector of the people irrespective of race, colour or religion? Maybe one is expecting too much.
