Malaysians are expected to brace for the south-west monsoon from mid-May 2014 until early September which brings another wave of dry spell with more days without rain.

However, rain is expected to occur in the morning, especially in the coastal areas of west coast states in the peninsular, said a statement from the Meteorological Department.

It said the south-west monsoon this time around was expected to bring less rainfall than normal in June in all states before returning to normal levels from July to September, except for in Sarawak.

Sarawak is expected to be much drier than normal in June, July and September except for in August when the rainfall will be at the normal level, it added.
