PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang and his deputy Mohamad Sabu reached an amicable settlement of their respective suits against Mashitah Ibrahim and two others over an article in the Sinar Harian daily ‘Langit Terbuka’ column dated March 2, 2012.       

High Court Judge Yeoh Wee Siam recorded the judicial settlement in chambers attended by Abdul Hadi and Mohamad Sabu’s lawyer Mohamed Hanipa Maidin and lawyer Mohd Haaziq Pillay who appeared for Mashitah.

When met by the media, Mohamed Hanipa merely said the cases were settled amicably and declined to reveal further details.  

The two suits were filed by Abdul Hadi and Mohamad Sabu against Mashitah, Sinar Harian , Sinar Karangkraf Sdn Bhd and Ultimate Print Sdn Bhd in relation to an alleged defamatory article in her column which was later printed and published by the other defendants.     

In their statement of claims filed on Sept 18 and 25, 2012, the plaintiffs said that the articles portrayed them as immoral and not fit to be party leaders.
