MCA has challenged DAP to join it in opposing the joint technical committee to study the implementation of hudud in Kelantan.

“By pressuring PAS to withdraw from the joint technical committee on the implementation of hudud, it will prove that DAP is really determined to stop PAS’ religious agenda, and is not merely making statements,” MCA publicity chief Chai Kim Sen said today.

The technical committee was formed between the Kelantan state government and the federal government, with backing from PAS and Umno.

Chai ( left ) pointed out that while MCA is urging the federal government not to take part in the committee, DAP secretary-general and Penang chief minister Lim Guan Eng merely asserted that Penang will not implement the syariah penal system.

“DAP should have the political courage to pressure PAS, instead of running away from its responsibility and trying to isolate Penang from PAS’ influence.

“This selfish attitude only proves that DAP is undeserving of the trust given to it by supporters around Malaysia,” Chai added.
