So Najib is card-carrying member of Perkasa, Isma
YOURSAY ‘We should now add that politics is also the art of the impossible.’
Najib warns of covert threats against Islam
Relevancy: If secularism (where religion is separated from government institutions and the people mandate) is a threat, why have a government at all to rule the country?
Are we to be ruled by religious doctrine by having a religious government? So should Umno exist as a religious organisation party and should PM Najib Razak lead the country since he is not a renowned religious leader?
The silly notion that there is only one true path is utterly simplistic in thinking. That is what Najib and the likes do not comprehend.
Islam is not the final chapter in humankind’s evolution of faith, it is another chapter.
Fair Play: Politics is the art of the possible. To this we should now add it is also the art of the impossible.
Judging by Najib’s statement about the 'threat', real or imagined, let's think and analyse it rationally.
Our nation is a very small nation, with some 29 million people of whom 60 percent are Muslims. So how can Islam be under all sorts of threat, real or imagined?
MA: I thought we had Ikatan Muslim Malaysia (Isma), the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais), and Malay rights group Perkasa to do this job. Well, what do you know. Our dear PM is in it, too.
Jstom: What about open threats against other religions by fanatical Muslims? You have not uttered one word against 'Christian bashing' at the Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) forum.
Muslims can disturb the inter-racial and inter-religious peace in the country openly and yet you speak of imaginary covert threats against Islam.
Swipenter: My religion is not the official religion of Bolehland so there are not many houses of worship of my religion as there is hardly any support from the government to fund our religious activities even though all of us are taxpayers.
Do I feel that my religion is being threatened by another religion and/or "human rightism"? The answer is is big "no". Anyone can leave the religion if he/she thinks it is not for him/her.
He/she can go and explore any religion and spiritual quest because we believe any spiritual/religious journey is personal matter between that person and God.
There is no force, no pretending and no pressure to conform to the precepts and teachings of the religion. You are free to join and free to leave at anytime.
You and only you are solely responsible for your own personal actions. Nobody can be blamed for the consequences of your action and nobody can take away your credit either because God knows and is the ultimate judge at the end of the day.
CiViC: Now even the PM is singing the same song, playing the same trick. Any doubt Isma is sanctioned by him?
Hang Babeuf: Does Najib, the world’s “great moderate” hope, slap down Isma and its president Abdullah Zaik? Does he say that their claims are simply unacceptable and dangerous nonsense? No.
What does he say? “Najib warns of camouflaged threats against Islam”.
What can one say? Simply that he is a man without credibility or honour? That’s inadequate. His performance is nothing other than disgusting.
Sabahan: Islam has never been under any form of threat in Malaysia. The 'threats' are created by Umno with the purpose of frightening the Malays to vote for them.
In the early days of Malaysia, when the opposition was weak, there were no such threats. Many Muslims attended Christian schools and probably learned the Christian prayers. None were converted.
Now when the opposition is strong, many threats to Islam were created. Even the word ‘Allah’ in the bibles is so great a threat to the Muslims that it is banned.
Actually who is under threat? Islam or Umno?
Whatsup: Najib, just because a few lying bigots thumped their chests about threats from certain communities a week or two before this speech of yours, it doesn't make sense for you to base your speech on what they said and claimed there are threats.
Another blunder perhaps, or a ill-conceived plan?
No Fool: We have this type of good-for-nothing PM who is wasting time on religious issues instead of spending his time to resolve the critical issues in the country like corruption, inflation, poor education system, misuse of power and independence of the judiciary. Malaysians have no future under such a useless PM.
Oriole: If this report is accurate, this man has just sanctioned narrow-mindedness, prejudice and the prevailing paranoia of nation destroyers like Isma. So we can see where this is going.
Basically: Finally, Najib speaks his mind. I guess 1Malaysia and his Global Movement of Moderates is consigned to the trash bin for good.
Allah will give you points for honesty. May as well change 1Malaysia to 1Malay as it has always been, and save us a lot of hogwash.
