MCA has called upon its political rival ,the DAP, to pull out of the opposition pact, saying the latter was "slapped in the face" after PAS misled it into believing the Hudud Bill had been dropped.

MCA publicity bureau chief Chai Kim Sen also charged that DAP had falsely bragged that they have stopped the Bill, while not contributing anything beyond "blaming and defaming MCA".

He was referring to a statement by Kelantan Deputy Menteri Besar Mohd Amar Abdullah that PAS could be tabling the Private Member's Bill in September, just days after the party president said it was postponed.

"While DAP had thought that they can exploit the postponement for their own political benefit in the coming by-elections, PAS on the other hand has other plans by announcing that they would be tabling the Bill in September instead," Chai ( left ) said in a statement.

This move, Chai said,should undermine DAP's support in two upcoming by-elections for Bukit Gelugor and Teluk Intan state seats.

He then called upon DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng to seriously pull the party out of Pakatan Rakyat to avoid further embarrassment.

"Perhaps Lim's over eagerness shows that he has poor rapport with the Pakatan coalition, since it is not the first time that DAP has been left in the dark about PAS' announcements.

"The same incident also happened during the Kajang by-election, which was created by the PKR," Chai said.

On Sunday, PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang ( right ) had said that the Bill for hudud to be implemented in Kelantan was temporarily shelved as a joint federal-Kelantan technical committee was tasked to study its implementation.

However, Mohd Amar was reported by Star Online yesterday as saying that the Bill may still be tabled in September, after more preparation.

He was also quoted saying that the Islamist party was banking on Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Jamil Khir Baharom to table two hudud-related Bills.

He added that Parliament regulations require a full minister to  do so to present the Bills as well as be seconded by 15  parliamentary members.
