Kedah Umno Youth is urging the government to redefine the laws pertaining to political immunity in the state legislative assembly and Parliament to ensure no parties use that privilege for provocation.

Kedah Umno Youth chief Shaiful Hazizy Zainal Abidin expressed concern that elected representatives with 'street politics' mentality would take matters into their own hands as happened in the case of Seri Delima state assembylman from Penang, RSN Rayer that could trigger unnecessary provocation.     

"In actual fact this immunity is used in debating issues relating to the interests of the country and people and not to vent anger or dissatisfaction," he said in a statement here today.

Hence, he said Rayer must apologise and admit his emotional lapse in calling several Umno leaders "celaka" during the last Penang state legislative assembly sitting.

Rayer had made the remark when debating on the Penang Yang Dipertua Negeri Abdul Rahman Abbas' address.

He was condemning Kepala Batas MP Reezal Merican Naina Merican and two other Umno leaders who joined a rally at Sunway Carnival Mall, Seberang Jaya, in January where DAP was accused of instigating the May 13, 1969 violence.
