So flying kick in Kuantan a ‘natural reaction’
YOURSAY ‘I am a Malay Muslim and I feel not only insulted but utterly embarrassed.’
Kuantan DAP office hit by flying kicks and eggs
Jiminy Qrikert:
I wonder if it is the non-Malays these Umno thugs are trying to terrify or are they really putting on such shows to terrorise the Malays into meek submission so that they continue to vote Umno-BN now out of fear than a love for the party.
Umno cannot be so utterly dumb as not to notice that such riotous antics have not intimidated the non-Malays at all, otherwise the Chinese and Indians would not have abandoned MCA, Gerakan and MIC over the last two general elections.
But then again, Malays have also been abandoning Umno in droves to switch support over to PKR and PAS.
So, it is possible that Umno going amok on such frequent rampages is really to intimidate the Malays with the possibility of mass riots in order to cauterise the haemorrhaging artery and get Malays back into Umno folds.
But I think Umno will instead cauterise themselves to death.
Imraz Ikhbal: I am a Malay Muslim and I feel not only insulted but also utterly embarrassed. Not by DAP, but by these bunch of hooligans who claim to represent my race and champion my religion.
It is the likes of these lost souls that I sometimes wish to not even reveal my race to people out of sheer shame. And I sincerely doubt that many more Malay Muslims feel any different.
Gerard Lourdesamy: Why no action by the police? Was the police notified under the Peaceful Assembly Act (PAA) 2012 about the gathering?
Since there was intimidation, attempted trespass and criminal damage to the DAP office, why didn't the police arrest the protestors at sight? There is no need to wait for a police report to be made when offences are being committed in front of the police.
This proves that the police are tacitly condoning breaches of the peace since it involves Umno and its supporters. These hooligans have indeed proven to be "celaka".
Oriole: So once again you have public nuisance and vandalism and the police watch without interfering? Can the highest police officer in Kuantan explain this dereliction of their duties and failure to protect property?
The PDRM is a disgrace. Put up the pictures of these police officers standing around and send them to the local and international media as well as the social media. Name and shame them.
Anonymous_5fb: Are these samsengs Melayu? To me, they are not Melayu but Umnoputera. Melayu that I know don't act like these samsengs.
In fact, they are provoking the Chinese through attacking DAP's offices. So, if we retaliate, which these Umnoputera hope for, we would in fact fall into their trap.
So, cool down and let them do their samseng acts. Such acts will be backfired on them. We shall see this in both the Bukit Gelugor and Teluk Intan by-elections.
Debater: Is the BN government encouraging political violence? Is it to show that they will hang on to power through violence if they ever lose the election?
In a democratic government, the country does not belong to any political party. As for Malays they should realise that BN Malays are no more Malay than Malays in PKR and DAP or PAS.
CQ Muar: Such cowardly and unruly hooliganism stems from the fact that the ruling Umno-led government is consistently silent and nonchalant towards such behaviour.
PM Najib Razak is abroad seemingly busy "promoting" the country as a peaceful and tolerant nation. His deputy, Muhyiddin Yassin, openly approved such violence, adding that their protest was justified.
Whereas the police, as expected, preferred to remain as audience (probably enjoying such antics). They failed to realise those are acts of public disorder and breach of peace and destruction of properties that warranted police detention or arrest.
Meanwhile, the good people of Teluk Intan, be they Malay, Chinese, Indian and others, ought to take into account such regular occurrences. Therefore, your wisdom in voting for the right candidate will determine our future.
Anonymous_1398011840: Why is ‘celaka’ even considered racist? Condemning Umno does not mean condemning all Malays or even Islam. Umno need to stop hiding behind racial and religious to protect themselves from being criticised.
Umno is a political party and it should be open to criticism.
Hope: Be calm. They have nothing to show and are desperate. As usual, they go for race and religion. They want to provoke for a reaction from non-Malays.
Do not fall into their trap. Let these monkey go on with their monkey show. These people are losing mass support fast and they know it.
Quigonbond: I'm glad Umno hooligans and thugs are doing this because it allows DAP to coolly show the sterner stuff they are made off by issuing measured criticisms instead of exploding in an orgy of violent insanity.
That's the difference between a party going downhill, and an ascendant party who is going to take Malaysia to progress and moderation.
Voiceless: By their behaviour, they have proved that DAP assemblyperson RSN Rayer was spot on.
