TELUK INTAN Early voting in the Teluk Intan parliamentary by-election involving 410 registered voters will take place tomorrow at the Multipurpose Hall of the Hilir Perak District Police Headquarters in Teluk Intan.

Perak Election Commission (EC) director Ahmad Adli Abdullah said the early voting period was from 8am to 5pm.

“Most of the early voters are police personnel and family members registered as voters in the Teluk Intan parliamentary constituency,” he told Bernama in Teluk Intan today.

He added that the EC was all set for the early voting tomorrow and that all aspects like staff, facilities and security including that of ballot boxes had been looked into.

The by-election is a straight fight between Gerakan president Mah Siew Keong for the Barisan Nasional and Dyana Sofya Mohd Daud from the DAP.

The constituency has 60,349 registered voters, with 59,927 ordinary voters,  410 early voters and 12 absentee voters (voters abroad).

Polling is on Saturday.

The seat fell vacant following the death of the MP, Seah Leong Peng of the DAP, of cancer on May 1.
