Parti Cinta Malaysia (PCM) vice-president Huan Cheng Guan will file a petition on the outcome of the Bukit Gelugor Parliament by-election on claims of misconduct of DAP during polling last Sunday.

Huan, who was also a candidate at the by-election, said he had pictorial proof and video clips to show DAP agents gathering and putting up tents in an area less than 50 metres from the border of the polling centre.

“This contravened the rules of the general election. As soon as the result of the by-election is gazetted I will submit all the evidence that I have,” he told reporters in George Town today.

He also claimed that a tent was put up in Kampung Kastam by DAP supporters using the logo of the Election Commission (EC) and could confuse the public, but the logo was taken down after complaints were lodged.

Huan also alleged that the presence of more than 1,000 Volunteer Patrol Team members at several polling centres was not necessary and was only aimed at fishing for votes as there were enough policemen on duty to ensure security.

He said two reports were lodged with the police and EC office yesterday on the matter.

Earlier Huan visited the Air Itam market and thanked those who voted for him and expressed appreciation to the media and those who supported his campaign.

He also congratulated Ramkarpal Singh Deo in defending the parliamentary seat for DAP.

In the just concluded by-election, Ramkarpal, 38, the third son of the late Karpal Singh won with a majority of 37,659 votes.

He obtained 41,242 votes to beat Huan (3,583 votes) and two independent candidates, Mohamed Nabi Bux Mohd Nabi Abdul Sathar (799 votes) and Abu Backer Sidek Mohamad Zan (225 votes).
