Umno Youth exco Fathul Bari Jahaya has called on the Pakatan Rakyat leadership to cease indulging in hate politics as this would only court disaster.

This type of politics, he added, would invite elements of slander, insult and argument.

He said this unhealthy political practice would also ruin the mindset of the people, especially Muslims.

"Religion forbids us from insulting and saying things which are false, hating fellow Muslims and making false accusations, even in the name of politics.

"The interest of religion is greater than political or personal interest," the Islamic scholar told Umno Online .

Fathul said that people have differences of opinion but this should not be used as an excuse to belittle each other.    

"Politics is to find who has the best ability to administrate this nation. So for certain, there would be differences of opinion, where every quarter would claim to be the best.        

"Must we berate each other because of this differences in opinion?

"Should we engage in the practice of hurling insults just to prove that we are better than the other camp? Of course not," he added.

In view of this, Fathul said there must be a shift in attitude with regard to how such differences of opinion are approached and handled.
