After headlining news reports for delays in the completion of venues, especially the indoor badminton stadium and the aquatic complex, the 17th Perlis Malaysia Games (Sukma) has been rocked by leaks in the newly built Badminton Stadium, last night.

Three leaks were spotted at different sections of the badminton hall when the fans were seated but did not interrupt with play.

In a statement released to the media, state Public Works Department (JKR) director Azizan Ab Rahman said the leaks were spotted at 4pm yesterday.

"JKR has taken immediate action to rectify the problem and the leakages were repaired by 6pm," he said.

Azizan said the leak was deemed as a minor defect and water had entered the side roof due to poor installation by the contractor.

    

JKR inspected the hall after it was repaired and we are satisfied, he said.

Delays in the completion of the aquatic complex situated in the Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Putra Sports Complex, forced swimming and diving events to be delayed by a day.

However, on the very first day of competitions, the canvas roof was torn apart, forcing the competition to be stopped.
