PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang is on his way to recovery after being admitted to the Medipol University Hospital in Turkey on Friday for breathing problems.

 

His political secretary Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar in a posting on Abdul Hadi's official Facebook page said the latter's condition was improving.

 

"He can now sit on a chair and talk. However, he still needs rest for a speedy recovery process," he said.

 

Ahmad Samsuri (right) added that doctors have advised Hadi not receive any visitors in the next two days to prevent new infections.

 

"We apologise to friends and comrades who wish to visit or are already in Istanbul to visit him," said Ahmad Samsuri.

 

Abdul Hadi's sudden illness had prompted Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak to instruct the Malaysian embassy to provide the necessary assistance to him.

 

Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim had also contacted the Turkish Prime Minister's Office to see to the 67-year-old Marang MP's needs.

Meanwhile, PAS deputy secretary-general Raja Ahmad Iskandar Yaacob thanked the Malaysian embassy in Ankara and the Turkish embassy in Kuala Lumpur for their assistance.

"Appreciation is also recorded to Prime Minister Najib and PKR de facto chief Anwar Ibrahim who used their diplomatic channels, be it between governments or political parties, to make it easier for Hadi who is seeking medical attention," he said.

Raja Ahmad also called on Malaysians to join in prayer for Abdul Hadi's speedy recovery.
