Raid an embarrassment? Khalid, you’re a letdown

YOURSAY ‘The Selangor MB must quit if he cannot protect its people.’

S'gor MB says Jais action an 'embarrassment'

Turvy: Selangor MB Khalid Ibrahim, embarrassed are you? As the leader of the state government, you should direct your officials to take action against what was a criminal action and punish those responsible for this most violent and heartless act.

How do you think the couple whose marriage was violated feel? Embarrassed?

That something must be done to correct this great wrong on a couple about to marry is clear. It is also clear that it is unlikely that such action will come from government whose dependence on fringe groups and the insane to keep them in power is abundantly clear.

The aggrieved must seek their remedies, but only through civilised means. I wonder if an application to the High Court by a number of temples and other religious places to prevent Jais (Selangor Islamic Affairs Department) from interfering with their constitutional and personal rights would go anywhere.

It is unfortunate that law schools and the legal profession in this country are so mute. If we can get some of our better legal minds think of such an action, I for one would contribute to pay them for their effort.

If nothing comes out of it the first time, the attempt will be a message and a springboard for other actions.

Famed6305: Khalid keeps advising Jais and keeps getting assurances. As MB is he spineless to act?

Surely if Jais only reports to the sultan, then seek an audience with Tuanku on the matter. Tuanku, I am sure, is far more righteous and can dispense a cure instead of using a band-aid.

It’s time to get rid of Khalid, can someone please bring a motion against him in the Dewan Undangan Negeri?

Water, Kidex and Jais - a major letdown to the rakyat and a departure from Pakatan Rakyat’s Buku Jingga manifesto.

Shanandoah: This religious nonsense has gone on for far too long. A person has to be free to believe in whatever religion he/she wants. Where is democracy if one cannot do that?

Is changing one's religion criminal? It seems to be that way in Malaysia. The Selangor MB must quit if he cannot protect its people from such harassment from religious authorities.

Senior Citizen: MB, please read this. I have been an ardent supporter of Pakatan for many years. Though I have never openly campaigned for Pakatan but I lent support in my own way.

Every single client of mine, which runs into thousands, has been successfully motivated by me to vote for Pakatan and not for Umno or BN. They, along with my friends and family, all supported Pakatan.

I was happy when Khalid first became the MB. The free water was something good and we all appreciated it. Then after the last elections we found something very strange about Khalid.

The news about his debts surfaced and it looks like Khalid himself has lost interest in the state and is more for his own self. This is very serious and goes against the very basics of leadership.

Either you are with us or against us. No two ways. I say if you are against us then resign immediately for your own good.

Sub: Mr MB, please don’t pretend. You have been doing nothing. You are not listening to the people of Selangor.

We are worried because we might lose Selangor in the 14th general election. It was our hard work to save Selangor from BN. Please don’t screw it up. Listen and do your job sincerely.

Fateh: The Selangor MB may not be perfect, in both work and politics, but please give him some credit for his frugal management, non-corrupt and corporate way. It is not easy to have an MB who is both business-oriented and at the same time, politically polished.

But he needs to be firmed when dealing with the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim), Jais or any Islamic bodies.

Casey: A frugal MB? Anyone who sits on the chair and does nothing would be able to save some money.

When Khalid claimed that he has increased the state government's reserves substantially from RM900 million to almost RM3 billion - presumably from spending no money with no ostensible improvement in the socio-economic well-being of the people - unsuspecting followers were jubilant thinking that we had in him a good and honest MB.

Little did we suspect that he is to commit the state to a massive payout of RM9.65 billion to the water concessionaires and by so doing would inevitably subject the state government to huge borrowings. Are we so gullible as to believe that Khalid planned and did this for the benefit of the people? I think not!

We may take a cue from Abraham Lincoln, who once said, "The shepherd drives the wolf from the sheeps for which the sheep thanks the shepherd as his liberator, while the wolf denounces him for the same act as the destroyer of liberty. Plainly, the sheep and the wolf are not agreed upon a definition of liberty."

The people of Selangor rid the state government from the evil claws of Umno, and handed over the right to govern the state to Pakatan, with Khalid at the helm. The people had placed their hope that Khalid would be the standard bearer of people’s government, and would act and look after the interests of the people.

But alas, Khalid is but a wolf in sheep's clothing. He has made a mockery of Selangor's water concessions; took convenient refuge under the Official Secrets Act (OSA) to keep things from the people and his fellow legislators; adopts a contemptuous attitude towards the Kidex issue; and supports Jais' seizure of the bibles. It is time for Pakatan to remove him or suffer the wrath of the people.

Takeiteasy: There are so many Muslim names just like Christian names, so are they Christian if going by your logic of defining religions by looking at their names?

To me, it is not an embarrassment but one of its many acts of stupidity of the highest order by Jais.

Abasir: "According to Jais it is not a raid, according to police it is a raid, according to us it is an embarrassment."

And since you are the MB of the state, you are accountable. Remember Competency, Accountability and Transparency (CAT)?

If not the MB (who has meekly emerged only after everyone has expressed their disgust), is it suggested that the sultan is behind this outrage? Or is it PM Najib Razak?

Or are we to assume that Jais reports to and is directed by a deviant clandestine group with powers over the police?

Gggg: An according to you, previously, Jais must inform the exco before doing such things but why didn't that happen?

Awakened: A wedding is the most important occasion for a couple who have decided to tie the knot. Usually, this is the happiest day for a couple who begin their journey as husband and wife.

For Jais to go to the wedding uninvited and disrupt the whole ceremony is the most uncivilised act which only heartless, cruel and immoral people will do. The worst thing is that these people did it in the name of protecting Islam.

The couple, their relatives and friends have been very very tolerant. We can't imagine the humiliation the duo had to go through.

Khalid, you are too slow in coming up with your statement. You did it only after many peoples have done so and you feel "safe" to do the same. You do not display leadership but are a mere follower.
