DAP not a threat, Zaid tells 'Malay heroes'

Lamborghini: Well said, former law minister Zaid Ibrahim. You have given the right perspective to correct the skewed and dangerous philosophy of the racial bigots in Perkasa, Isma and their ilk.

 

I hope more rational and educated Malay intellectuals like you would speak up to challenge and correct the wrong and dangerous thinking of the racial and religious extremists that seem to be getting more and more space in the public arena.

 

We need more level-headed and balanced thinking like yours to overcome the irrational, intolerant and insecure racist venom being spewed out by the religious bigots in our nation. May your tribe increase.

 

Caesar: Well said, Zaid. How can DAP wipe out the Malay race? With all the power in the pro-Malay groups hands, only the opposite can happen. In fact, the Chinese, Indians and other races are at their mercy.

 

Urkidding: Zaid, you are one who is courageous enough to bring this matter to light. Supporters of DAP are ordinary folks, making a decent living and have no connections with those upstairs.

 

They are unlike MCA who belongs to the Chinese elite. How can these ordinary Chinese, the minority race, threaten the majority? It simply does not make sense.

Abasir: Thank you for speaking out. There are of course other thinking Malays, but more often than not, they would not speak up.

 

The unthinking ones, those incapable of rational thought, however, are far more, though that is nothing more than grating noise.

 

Ratbatblue: Unfortunately, Zaid is the exception to the rule and perhaps a voice in the wilderness as far as highlighting the plight of the minorities is concerned.

 

It is sad that the majority of the thinking Malays, ordinary citizens who value peace and stability in the country appear to be in the comfort zone and choose not to speak out against the perceived injustice going on for fear of being censured by the very vocal extremist minority of their race.

 

It is only natural for non-Malay citizens to harbour the feeling that no Malay would be foolish enough to 'rock the boat' and speak up against these instances of injustice.

 

To counter this perhaps inaccurate perception, more Malays like you, writer Mariam Mokhtar, DAP candidate Dyana Sofya Mohd Daud and Bukit Bendera MP Zairil Khir Johari, activist Haris Ibrahim and others are needed to speak the truth and thus open the eyes of the majority who have been misled in the name of race and religion.

 

Anonymous #50815906: A very good advice to UiTM (Universiti Teknologi Mara) to produce intellectuals who are tolerant, peace loving and progressive Malays for the future.

 

Nobody has the right to say that Christianity is false. All religions are god-inspired and so must be respected.

 

It is shocking that UiTM allowed a forum to denounce another religion.

 

??: DAP supporters do not own huge gambling and gaming companies, DAP supporters are not involved in multi-billion ringgit scandals and even if any of them were involved even in a million ringgit scam, he would for sure be exposed and sentenced to a maximum jail sentence.

 

DAP does not retard the Malays, Umno does. The behaviour of UiTM students clearly indicate that they lack the power of reasoning and are easily influenced - that is precisely what Umno wants.

 

Liujinzhong: Most of the wealthy Chinese businessmen support BN parties because they think Umno can be dealt with and reined in.

 

On the opposite, a great majority of ordinary Chinese look down upon Umno and other BN parties for their inaction against corruption, cronyism, lawlessness, incompetence and complete lack of conviction to build a modern multiracial Malaysia.

 

It is obvious that non-Malay supporters of Umno are the ones who want to see Malays remaining weak and backward. DAP's interest is not limited to ministerial posts. It wants Malays to stand tall together with all other Malaysians.

 

Lionking: Any issue that comes out in Malaysia is given a racial twist by Umno politicians. The objective is to control the mindset of the Malays so they can rule forever. In the end, this attitude will weaken the nation and it is obvious everyone will suffer.

 

A.A: It is good that Zaid spoke up on this. Malaysians of all races have to be united if the country is to be strong and respected by the international community. If any one race tries to dominate the others, the country will never be able to achieve its true potential.

 

Malaysians should not let the country be hijacked by a small bunch of extremists. The silent majority should speak up against any form of extremism that seeks to divide Malaysians.

Hplooi: Well said, Zaid. If the Malay polity cannot even discern the nuance and applicability of "socialism" (which is not the same as communism) or can't even accept the idea that there is a huge wide world out there which is this enterprise called human civilisation, then the said polity is retreating into a very narrow autarchic worldview.

 

Wandering Star: Zaid, you are dead right in your assessment of the Chinese race. They are not as politically inclined and power crazy as they are made out to be.

 

They just like to be treated fairly and left alone as silent performers, allowing them to join other 'pendatangs' to develop the country.

 

Fair&Just: Once in a blue moon, a fair, just, truthful and honest article by a Malay from this bigotland is like a fresh breeze in the stale, foul air.

 

Hopefully many, many more Malays like Zaid Ibrahim will come forward and lead the nation.

 

For the minorities are after all only the minority, only fervently praying for a fair, just, honest, good and corruption-free government.

 

We only want to be free from the shackles and bullying of this apartheid-like regime.
