The management of the car park at the KL International Airport 2 (KLIA2), Segi Astana Sdn Bhd, has no intention of reducing the parking rate yet.

Its centre manager, Vincent Chong said the current rate commensurate with the service provided at KLIA2, compared with the charge at the car park at the Low Cost Carrier Terminal (LCCT), previously.

He said the parking rate at KLIA2 was RM46 a day, while at LCCT, it was RM40.50 per day.

The reasons for the difference, among others, are because of the improved facilities at KLIA2, like 24-hour security, roof parking and availability of buggy service, he told Bernama when contacted today.

He said the eight-storey car park at KLIA2 could accommodate 5,690 vehicles.

"It is always full during weekends and public holidays," he added.

Meanwhile, Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) senior general manager, Azmi Murad, said there was an alternative parking for patrons at KLIA2, which is at the Long-term Car Park (LTCP) at Jalan KLIA1.

“There are 6,000 parking lots there and the rate is RM2.50 for every hour or RM32 per day," he said, adding that they would however have to take the shuttle bus service, which is free of charge, to go to the terminal, which is about seven kilometres away.
