PAS has not received any updates on its plans to implement the hudud from the technical committee formed by the federal and Kelantan govermments to discuss the matter.

“There is none. (We) leave it all to the technical committee,” PAS deputy president Mohamad Sabu (right) said at a press conference at its headquarters in Kuala Lumpur this afternoon.

He was asked on the latest developments about the implementation of the Islamic penal code, which the committee is to discuss.

Also present at the press conference was party secretary general Mustafa Ali.

The Kelantan government last November formed a special technical committee to study the implementation of the hudud in the state.

The state, via PAS MPs, had planned to table a Private Members' Bill in Parliament to pave the way for the implementation of the hudud in Kelantan.

Last month, Minister in the Prime Minister's Jamil Khir Baharom said a central technical committee will be set up to study the matter.

The committee will involve the federal government, the Kelantan government and PAS, will study law and explain the matter to all political parties.
