Islamic NGO says no to harmony bills
Pertubuhan Pembela-Pembela Islam (Pembela), a grouping of Malay right wing NGOs, wants the government to retain the 1948 Sedition Act with improvements, and to review three new bills before they are debated and passed by Parliament.
Pembela chairperson Hafiz Nordin told reporters in George Town today that this was necessary as the Sedition Act cannot be challenged by anyone, including members of Parliament.

Hafiz was commenting on the announcement by Minister in the Prime Ministers Department Nancy Shukri on May 30 that the government would introduce three new bills to replace the Sedition Act.
They are the National Harmony Bill, the National Unity Bill, and the National Unity and Integration Commission Bill.
