Islamic NGO says no to harmony bills

Pertubuhan Pembela-Pembela Islam (Pembela), a grouping of Malay right wing NGOs, wants the government to retain the 1948 Sedition Act with improvements, and to review three new bills before they are debated and passed by Parliament.

Pembela chairperson Hafiz Nordin told reporters in George Town today that this was necessary as the Sedition Act cannot be challenged by anyone, including members of Parliament.
