With the tables turned on the hudud issue, DAP appears hellbent on exacting vengeance on MCA and Gerakan by issuing them the same challenges thrown to the opposition party in the past.

Among them being the late Karpal Singh's infamous "Islamic state, over my dead body" remark.

DAP national vice-chairperson Teresa Kok recalled how MCA vice-president Chew Mei Fun had previously challenged DAP leaders to repeat the remark over the PAS proposal to implement hudud in Kelantan.

"If MCA believes this is a suitable and the clearest way to express a party’s stand against hudud, then I will ask if they will now tell Umno 'Hudud, over my dead body'," she said.

Kok also recounted how MCA Youth had threatened to surround Parliament if PAS tables the private member's bill on hudud.

"Will they now surround the Selangor state assembly if the Umno motion is tabled?" she asked in a statement.

She was responding to reports that Selangor Umno asssemblyperson for Sungai Air Tawar Kamarol Zaki Abdul Malik ( right ) had submitted a motion to the forthcoming state assembly beginning next week pushing for the implementation of hudud law.

The Seputeh MP also noted that MCA and Gerakan leaders had called on DAP to quit Pakatan Rakyat over the proposal by PAS.

Now, she challenged the two parties to do the same and exit BN.

"Since an Umno rep has officially submitted a motion, if MCA and Gerakan truly believe in what they say, then they must immediately declare they will quit BN.

"But will they? I have no doubt that not only will they not quit but they will go down on their knees to readily accept the prime minister’s offer to return to cabinet," she added.

Training her guns on MCA, Kok said that over the last month, the ruling party leaders had launched a series of attacks against DAP via the Chinese media.

"MCA leaders have been making all types of falsehood and lies, including character assassination and personal attacks against DAP leaders although DAP repeatedly publicly stated our stand that DAP will oppose the implementation of hudud in Malaysia," she added.
