Diversified conglomerate Oriental Holdings Bhd (OHB), says reclamation work for the remaining 202.7 hectare project in Klebang, Malacca, is likely to commence next month.

The Penang-based group said the reclamation work was expected to be completed by end-2016 by Benalec Sdn Bhd, which has been appointed the contractor for the project.

The completion would significantly add to Oriental’s landbank, the company said in a statement.

OHB said the current priority was to complete the medical complex and nursing college to ensure its timely opening.

The group’s medical centre in Malacca is expected to commence operations by year-end and would catalyse the expansion of its healthcare division, it said.

For the group’s reclaimed land of 134.4 hectare in Klebang, OHB said discussions were ongoing with various parties for a comprehensive development plan especially for the sea front area.

Special care has been taken not to duplicate current mixed developments on nearby reclaimed lands, it added.
