The rate of unemployment in the country is three percent and is still at a low level compared to other developed countries.

Deputy Human Resource Minister Ismail Abdul Muttalib said his ministry was seen to have given an impact especially in reducing unemployment among the youths through various activities such as the 'Karnival Azam Kerja' and the Job Emplacement Programme (3P).

"Among the factors for unemployment among the youths is the feeling of complacency of living with their parents besides the problem of unbalanced time management as a result of involvement in social activities and being choosy in the work they apply for," he said after opening the 'Program Karnival Azam Kerja' and the 'Program Penempatan 3P' at the Papar district level today.

Ismail said the career carnival represented a platform for employers to meet the workers in matching the jobs for the workers.

Earlier in his speech, he expressed confidence that every carnival programme organised would be improved to make it relevant to the needs of the industry and government policies.

He believed that such programmes could give confidence to graduates in the job market and reduce dependency on foreign workers numbering about two million people.
