A total 67 public service officers have been found guilty of misappropriation, abuse of power, misbehaviour or negligence of duty as of June 13 this year.

Public Service (PSD) director-general Mohamad Zabidi Zainal ( left ) said this was based on reprimands which were investigated by the Investigation Committee in the 2012 Auditor-General Report.

Speaking at a townhall session on the Follow-up Action to the Auditor-General's Report 2012 and 2013 (Series one and two) in Kuala Lumpur yesterday, he said 10 officers were found not guilty while 88 officers were still in the disciplinary/ surcharge/court proceedings.

He said all the officers who were found guilty would face disciplinary action which were established by the Disciplinary Board, including being sacked, warned, subjected to surcharge and postponement of salary increment.

"Of the total, an officer had been sacked, 29 were subjected to surcharge, fined (two), warning (21), postponement of salary increment (one).

"A total 12 officers were subjected to surcharge and warning and another was warned and had his salary increment postponed," he said.

The townhall session was held for the first time to enable the media to interact and get more detailed feedbacks from the related ministries and agencies on the 2013 Second Series of the Auditor-General's Report.

Also present were Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Paul Low Seng Kuan, Auditor-General Ambrin Buang, ministries' secretary-generals, heads of departments and government agencies.
