MH370 The government has yet to decide whether or not to table a White Paper in Parliament on the missing MAS flight MH370, said Acting Transport Minister Hishammuddin Tun Hussein.

He said the government has also not decided on the setting up of a Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) or a parliamentary Select Committee to investigate the MH370 tragedy.

"A decision on the matter will be made after the missing aircraft is found, investigation on the incident carried out and cause of the tragedy identified.

"Efforts to find the MAS aircraft will continue," he said in a written reply to Liew Chin Tong (DAP-Kluang) at the Dewan Rakyat sitting in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.

Liew wanted to know whether the Transport Ministry had plans to table a White Paper on the MH370 tragedy in Parliament based on a Cabinet note issued by Hishammuddin on May 14.

Countries to share cost

On the amount spent for MH370's search and rescue (SAR) mission, Hishammuddin said the government had yet to assess the total cost involved as the SAR operation was still ongoing.

"The operation cost of SAR is carried out in line with the standard set under ANNEX 12 SAR, Chicago Convention 1944, where each country shall provide the SAR service for areas in the Search and Rescue Region (SRR) stipulated by the Aviation Security, International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO).

"In this context, the SAR operation cost is borne by the countries involved," he added.
