Three unemployed men and a housewife who had earlier been tentatively charged in the Magistrate’s Courts in Perak, Negri Sembilan and Kuala Lumpur respectively, for supporting and promoting terrorism, appeared together in the High Court in Kuala Lumpur today to answer the charges.

Mohammad Hafiz Zahri Suparyatnoh, 28, Muhammad Armie Fatihah Mohd Hashim, 22, Mohd Khairil Mi, 27, and Azizah Md Yusof, 54, claimed trial before Justice Kamardin Hashim.

Mohammad Hafiz Zahri is accused of supporting a terrorist group that called itself ‘The Islamic State Of Iraq and Syam’ (Isis) through a Whatsapp Group, ‘Daulah Islamiyyah Malizia’, while Muhammad Armie Fatihah, of supporting terrorism through promoting an ideology to incite the masses in Syria.

They allegedly committed the offences at Kampung Air Jernih, Ijok, Taiping between 10pm on April 4 and 12.30pm on April 6.

Mohd Khairil is accused on three counts of promoting an ideology to incite the people in Syria.

He allegedly committed the offences at a homestay in Jalan 1/12, Taman Intan Perdana in Kuala Lumpur between 10pm on Nov 1, 2013 and 3pm on Nov 3; at Gunung Arang Para, Kampung Nyior, Kuala Kangsar between 12noon and 1pm, from Dec 25 until Dec 27, 2013, and Kampung Air Jernih, Ijok, Taiping between 10am and 12.30pm on April 4 and April 6, 2014.

Azizah, a mother of five, is accused on two counts of supporting terrorism by promoting an ideology to incite the masses in Syria through two Facebook accounts, ‘Wan Jah’ and ‘Azizah Yusof’.

She allegedly committed the offences at E8, Special Branch, 24th Floor, Menara 2, Bukit Aman Police Headquarters about 2pm on April 24.

The charges were framed under Section 130J(1)(a) and 130G(a) of the Penal Code, which carry life sentences or jail terms of not more than 30 years, and fines, upon conviction.

Kamardin disallowed bail and set Aug 21 for case management.

Deputy public prosecutor Muhammad Iskandar Ahmad, Afzainizam Abdul Aziz and Wan Shaharuddin Wan Ladin appeared for the prosecution.

Counsel Ariff Azami Hussein, Collin Arvind Andrew, and Suzalena Salleh represented Muhammad Armie Fatihah, Mohd Khairil and Azizah respectively, while Mohammad Hafiz Zahri was unrepresented.
