Abhorrent for gov’t to back anti-Christian forum
YOURSAY ‘It’s sheer horror for Education Ministry to officially condone such acts.’
Ministry defends UiTM's forum on Christians
Moontime: The Education Ministry can say anything to defend its decision not to take action against University Teknologi Malaysia (UiTM) but the fact remains clear: this is not a discussion forum.
In a discussion, the participants are allowed to argue, defend, clarify and rebut issues related to the topic. What happened in UiTM Shah Alam is just brainwashing disguised as discussion.
The Christians were not there to rebut/defend their position thus making this intellectual exercise a mockery. How would the authorities feel if a similar forum were to be held but this time it's about Islam and only meant for Christians, with their scholars, priests and bishops attending but not a single Muslim present?
I can imagine the hue and cry that will ensue with cries of sedition, threats and whatnot coming from the likes of Perkasa, Isma and of course, Umno.
Kim Quek: It is bad enough for a government-funded university to defile Christianity by fake former Christians and concoct false threats against Islam in order to create hatred and paranoid, but it is sheer horror for the Education Ministry to officially condone such atrocious acts by telling even more lies in, of all places, the Parliament.
Such contemptible conduct has not only shamed Parliament, but has virtually revealed to the world how racism and religious extremism have run wild in BN-ruled Malaysia.
Abasir: "Intellectual discussions" like this anti-Christian forum promoted by the Education Ministry are among the reasons for Malaysian universities not making it into the top 100 universities in Asia.
That is putting it mildly. What I really want to say is that in the hands of imbeciles and intellectual pygmies, Malaysia is doomed to remain in the garbage bin it is in now.
Tembikai: The ministry actually endorses liars to speak at the conference full of Muslims? Weren't the two Christian converts to Islam found out to be fakes? They were never Christians in the first place.
You allow fakes like these to teach and influence the ummah just like you allow an alleged plagiarist like Ridhuan Tee Abdullah to get his promotion? What sort of Muslims are you to destroy your own ummah by allowing liars to infiltrate the ummah?
Were you ever concern about the education of the ummah? Just look at the quality of your vice-chancellors, deputy vice-chancellors and professors. They can't even compete with those of our neighbouring countries.
Oh Ya?: Indeed, how could it be intellectual discussion when one of the speakers is a fake ex-pastor convert and also the presentations made were nothing except religious bigotry?
By the same token, would the ruling elite have allowed it if one is to organise an "intellectual discussion" of their religion?
It is clear from this parliamentary answer and other actions that the ruling elite is fully backing the recent surge of racial tensions and religion bigotry.
And unfortunately for all Malaysians, they have been ruled for more than half a century by these bigots. It’s little wonder that Bolehland is falling behind other countries.
Swipenter: The forum was only open to Muslims, so how can it promote "intellectual discussion"? Can I increase my "intellect and cultivate my mind" by talking to myself alone without involving open discussion with others with and without the same view as I?
The Education Ministry is talking nonsense and yet we wonder why our education system and standards are in the pits these days.
Anonymous_1398011840: How can a "cultivated discussion” not involve all parties in discussion? You merely presented your part of the story which may or not be accurate.
To truly cultivate disccussion and critical thinking, you should have include all parties so that the students would not be "confuse" by your cook-up allegations.
Negarawan: This is the extent the fake Muslims are willing to go to justify their lies and hatred towards others. Only Allah can rebuke them in a country like ours, where there is no more justice and leadership.
It is becoming clear that PM Najib Razak's administration is condoning a racial and religious backlash against non-Malays and non-Muslims, as a form of retaliation for the poor support from them in GE13.
Magnus: The curious question for me is why decent right-thinking and educated fellow Malaysians would still want to voluntarily allow themselves to be treated by their government in that disrespectfully infantile, patronising and condescending manner and still voluntarily submit themselves to be closeted, straight jacketed and kept without access to real intellectual freedoms and personal lifestyles choices by their government.
Worse, they are also I believe, policed constantly by all manner of undemocratic, unconstitutional and highly suspect religious political nutters and their little fascist administrative Napoleans, Hitlers, Stalins and others like those very self-important bigots and hypocrites in the Vorta thought police and busybody khalwat hit squads who are all, I bet, are only doing it to hang on to their free NEP rice bowls.
Turvy: If those who are preoccupied with defending religions could take some time to grasp the finer tenets of the religions they purport to defend, their energies could be put to make the world a better place to live in.
The poor, the infirm and the neglected who are all God's children will have something to thank God for.
If 5,000 able bodied students could spend one weekend to unclog drains and clean the environment in some poor district where no municipal officials would venture and rid the place of mosquitoes, they would be seen to fight a real enemy - the deadly dengue.
But they won't. It is too much work. It is easier to swipe at imaginary foes than at mosquitoes.
Iknow: Can UITM now organised another forum at their campus where the Christians can pick a subject of their choice on Islam to be discussed? This can be done at the campus in Sarawak or Sabah.
I am an indigenous Sarawakian and a Christian. I do not like bigots and I hate those few who abuse the taxpayers' money in public institutions to attack the rest of us. I do not like those who spread hate and divisions.
Woe to those who use religion to destroy unity. Why are these people doing so much in order to attack the Christians if they are sure of the truth in their religion? To me, this is a sign of doubt.
A.A.: Fairness and reciprocity seem to be sorely in short supply among a certain group of people and many in authority in the handling of interfaith issues.
If you belittle the beliefs of others, what right do you have to demand others to show respect and extra sensitivity to your religion?
