Najib Abdul Razak said the strong support he received from the people has given him the strength to administer the country.

The prime minister said he could not administer the country if the people did not work together to maintain good relations with the various communities.

"The country's success, including in Pekan, is because we are together. I cannot work without your support.

"Your support has given me the strength to lead the country," Najib ( right ) said when presenting Ramadan donations to mosques and surau in Pekan parliamentary constituency today.

The function was also attended by Pahang state assembly speaker Ishak Mohammad and the state exco member for Felda affairs, Abu Bakar Harun.

Najib said he was aided by good ties with Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah.

'This is destiny '

Tuanku Abdul Halim was also the Yang di-Pertuan Agong when his father Abdul Razak Hussein was the prime minister.

"It is a piece of history of Malaysia. Becoming Yang di-Pertuan Agong twice with a second generation as the prime minister is very difficult to achieve.

"This is what I call destiny."

On another note, Najib urged people with economic means to step up charity work in the month of Ramadan.

At the function, he also presented donations to 58 mosques and 151 surau in the Pekan parliamentary constituency.

Each mosque received RM1,200 while each surau received RM800, additional RM200 from the amount last year, apart from dates, tea, milk and sugar.
