The immigration ban on several Pakatan Rakyat MPs from entering Sarawak is lifted for only seven days to allow them to attend Bukit Assek assemblyperson Wong Ho Leng’s funeral.

According to DAP’s Seputeh MP Teresa Kok, this is according to a ‘Special Pass’ ( left ) issued to her when she arrived in Sibu yesterday.

“I was given a ‘Special Pass’ which states that I am allowed in Sarawak for seven days to attend the funeral, upon state orders.

“Only seven days? What have I done wrong that I am only allowed to be in Sarawak for seven days? How sad,” she lamented on her Facebook page last night.

PKR's Batu MP Tian Chua was also issued the same 'Special Pass' when he arrived in Sibu on a separate flight last night.

Sarawak Chief Minister Adenan Satem’s office on Sunday informed Kok, who is also DAP vice-chairperson, that the immigration ban on several Pakatan reps will be lifted to allow them to attend Wong’s funeral today.

Sarawak has immigration rights, with residents of peninsular Malaysia only allowed to enter and work in the state upon permission from the state government.

Wong died of brain cancer in a hospital in Sibu on Saturday. The wake will take place at his home in Jalan Ipoh there starting 7am today, before the funeral service at Hwai Tang Methodist Church.

He will be buried at the Jalan Kemuyang cemetery.
