Deal not transparent if it’s not open tender
YOURSAY ‘Ibrahim Ali, how can you say that the deal was transparent?’
Perkasa: What's wrong if Umno men get UiTM deals?
MinahBulat: Perkasa chief Ibrahim Ali is now a confirmed idiot. Pandan MP Rafizi Ramli’s allegation of cronyism and corruption is substantiated by the fact that there was no open tender.
He also pointed out that the company awarded the UiTM (University Teknologi Malaysia) contract has no track record. If the company has all the qualifications, why Bina Puri, a non-bumi company, was the sub-contractor. If everyone can do business, why not have open tender system instead?
Rafizi is merely pointing out that the Private Finance Initiative (PFI) is nothing but a crony apparatus, and that it is not helping the bumiputera.
Finally, all this is taxpayers’ money - that’s my money or like you would say ‘pendatang’ money.
SSDhaliwal: Ibrahim Ali, how can you say that the deal was transparent when it was brokered through direct negotiations instead of open tender?
Any objective of a concept or model of finance should primarily be cost savings and timely completion without sacrificing quality.
However, this PFI model seems to be nothing more than creative accounting to justify the exorbitant cost involved when a cheaper alternative would have been to invite more qualified contractors via open tenders, thus obtaining far greater value for our money.
This is Najib's philosophy of ‘I help you, you help me’. Need I say more?
Telestai!: Ibrahim Ali, it would have been okay if the jobs were awarded in a open tender. It would have been okay if Umno cronies won the tenders fair and square.
Can you profess that with your hand on your heart? If not, go ahead and wage your anti-corruption war against your patron and sponsors in Umno. We can't wait to see the outcome.
Multi Racial: The problems with these Malay pressure groups is that their priority is not to fight corruption. It is always about giving bumi cronies a bigger share of the cake.
It does not matter the deal is questionable, it does not matter if the deal is way above market price, it does not matter if there is no tender, it does not matter if some other companies can do it better, and it does not matter if it is wrong.
To them, as long as the contracts are given to bumi cronies, it is alright. Malaysia is going to drown if these people have a say in the running of the country.
We are waiting for a leader to stand up to these racist bigots and do the right thing.
Guna Otak Sikit: If you have the time, Ibrahim, let's have coffee or teh tarik. I will pay, of course. I can explain what is wrong.
I do not blame you since you have been taught that "celaka" is sedition but "beheading" is a figure of speech. It is not too late to learn how other people behave in other countries.
Please do not be surprised if I tell you that, in some countries, people would have committed ‘seppuku’ in such cases. Of course, you may never have heard of such a country.
And if you are still not confused, I can explain the term "conflict of interest", provided you don’t have any headache. Or is the term too complicated for you?
Clearwater: PFI = Profit For Idiots. Even an idiot can make money if his product is deliberately overpriced with the overpayment shared among all involved in the process.
The longer the contract, the better the profits. We do understand this model well.
Isma: Be grateful for Umno's generosity
David Dass: BN is committed to being a multiracial party albeit that is achieved through race-based components. A cabinet without Chinese presence is a breach of that commitment and may have serious consequences in the near term.
For MCA-appointed ministers to be told that they should be grateful because the Malay government is giving them seats they had not earned and do not deserve by not fighting for Chinese rights and not attacking Malay interests like hudud and the Islamic state is wrong.
It just guarantees the continued defeat of MCA ministers in Chinese-majority constituencies.
Fats: To many of us, MCA and Gerakan went in with bowl begging and their leaders genuflect and prostrate before Umno.
MCA in particular threw moral principles out the window by reneging on an earlier agreement not to be in cabinet. So who do we care if they are represented in the cabinet?
Just do not claim to speak for and champion the cause of Chinese Malaysians. That would be blood rubbing salt to wound and the ultimate affront to our dignity.
Proarte: The so-called 'intruders' according to former PM Dr Mahathir Mohamad pay 90 percent of tax in Malaysia. The government uses this money to help Malays to have a better life.
So on the contrary, Isma should say a big 'thank you' to the 'intruders' for improving their lives and must 'bersyukur' to Allah for bringing the 'intruders' to Malaysia.
