The number of hot spots detected through the satelite images of the National Oceanic and Atsmopheric Administration (NOAA)-18 in Sumatra, Indonesia rose to 19 as of yesterday compared with 12 on the day before.

Natural Resource and Environment Minister G Palanivel said in a statement today that the number of hot spots detected in several locations within the country also rose to five compared with one on the previous day.

He said that of the five hot spots, four were detected in Pahang and the other in Selangor.

Malaysia is now experiencing haze following the burning activities in Sumatra as well as open burning activities within the country.
