PAS today urged former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad to continue to speak up against the Iskandar Malaysia project, saying that the party fully agreed with him.
PAS vice-president Salahuddin Ayub said that he is prepared to label Mahathir a "great statesman" if the latter furnishes more proof to back up his claims the Iskandar project is a front for Singapore to expand its sovereignty.
"He is the most qualified person to talk about this, and I hope he can come to a public forum and tell us more," Salahuddin ( right ) said during a press conference at PAS headquarters today.
"His concerns are legitimate and it involves the future of this country.
"We have big hopes that he will continue speaking out on this issue," added Salahuddin, who is based in Johor.
Meanwhile, Salahuddin also said that the controversy surrounding the Menteri Besar post for Selangor "would be solved soon".
"The Pakatan Rakyat presidential council will make a decision soon. That much I can tell you," he added.
