Selangor executive committee member for Malay Customs, Youth and Sports Dr Ahmad Yunus Hairi, is disappointed that there are moves to unseat Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim.

 

The PAS state assemblyperson wrote on his Facebook page a long letter questioning the internal politics of Pakatan Rakyat.

 

"Is the tradition of defending the people now becoming a lower priority in the agenda of Pakatan-led Selangor? Have those goals and dreams now been superseded by a dream for a change in the reins of power at the top, in Pakatan's second term of rule in Selangor?" Ahmad Yunus wrote today.

 

Khalid’s position has been recently challenged by many in Pakatan, with some PKR leaders openly making statements about the need for him to vacate the seat he has occupied for six years.

 

Ahmad Yunus ( centre ), who was appointed to the executive council after former Selangor PAS commissioner Dr Hasan Ali was sacked in 2012, did not specifically name the leaders he was referring to.

 

However the Sijangkang assemblyperson repeatedly urged Pakatan colleagues not to jostle for power but instead be sensitive to the people's feelings.

 

"What kind of storm is this that Pakatan has to undergo that is worth making the people uncomfortable and feel nausea, as the ship sways from side to side, when it was once smooth sailing?" he said.

 

He added that the public display of internal struggles within Pakatan will only make people think that the opposition party is no different from BN leaders, who are all greedy for power.

 

Ahmad Yunus also requested that all leaders of the component parties not to be influenced by the tactics of their political enemies that try to take advantage of the infighting among themselves.

 

"Has Pakatan Selangor contracted the virus of envy and jealousy found in BN?" he asked.

Malaysiakini understands that a number of PKR and DAP reps favour dismissing Khalid, while PAS reps were still waiting for the party's top leaders to make a decision.
