Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng's annoyance over a pro-BN Facebook's account posting on his car having parked "illegally" has tickled his opponent all the way in Singapore.

Speaking from the island state down south, Penang BN chief Teng Chang Yeow ( right ) told Lim not to be so "obsessed" with BN as he is prone to blame the ruling coalition for all his problems.

Teng, who is on a business trip, also told Lim to quit thinking that his rivals were "instigating" others to go against him.

"Nevertheless, the photograph of an official car… parking illegally must surely come from pro-BN blogs.

"I can't differ but concur. If it comes from a pro-DAP blog, something must be dammed wrong. If it comes from a pro-DAP blog than he is in deep s**t!" Teng, who is Penang Gerakan chief, exclaimed.

"I can't say this is a stupid remark but (he) is surely stupid to make such a remark!" the former Padang Kota assemblyperson said of Lim’s complaint that pro-BN elements are after him.

Yesterday, Lim complained that a Chinese-language newspaper had published a report that his official car, with the number plate PG1, had parked on at a "No Parking" zone outside Times Square, along Jalan Dato Keramat.

Guan Eng said Times Square is a private premise and the management had offered his driver to park the car there.

The DAP secretary-general blamed a pro-BN blog for the photo which went viral on social media, where Facebook users offered the photographer RM20 for the photo.

Lim ticked off the newspaper for only carrying negative news about him from such pro-BN blogs but ignored anti-BN reports on social media, especially those involving the alleged spending habits of one BN leader’s wife.

He also remarked that such reports were not published during former Gerakan president Koh Tsu Koon's tenure as chief minister.

Meanwhile, Teng chided Lim for picking on the media again to cover up his own problems, noting also that Lim was prone to resort to legal action against the press.

Teng said Lim was quick to issue support for the jailed Al-Jazeera journalists, but here in Penang, he scolds local reporters for negative coverage of him.

"How can he call himself defender of the press then? The newspaper was just reporting the issue as it is. So please be more tolerant," the former Gerakan secretary-general said.

Teng said Lim should never compare himself to Koh, who never took legal action against the media despite negative reports about him.

He also chastised Lim for claiming that Koh never had to deal with such reports, citing a newspaper report on Koh’s unpaid traffic fines.

"But he did not scold the newspaper or reporter who wrote the story.

"Only that during Koh's time the social media was not so popular - it only became popular after 2008.

“So that's why not many people know about Koh's summons and the story that was published," Teng said.
