MP wants emergency sitting to include MH370

MH17 DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang said today that Wednesday's emergency Parliament sitting should debate both the MH17 disaster as well as the disappearance of the MH370.

The Gelang Patah MP explained that both disasters had many differences, especially in terms of closure, where the first tragedy remains a great mystery while the second, a crime against humanity.

“Just like MH17, the MH370 tragedy deserves full and proper accountability which cannot wait until the missing aircraft is found,” Lim ( right ) said in a statement today.

“On Wednesday, the government should present separate white papers on the MH370 and MH17 disasters.”

Claiming that he had no hesitation in welcoming last night’ announcement of  Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak’s on the convening of an emergency sitting over MH17, Lim however said it was unfortunate that his calls for a debate over MH370 failed to raise any support.

As such, he said the government should support the establishment of an opposition-headed parliamentary committee to investigate all aspects of the twin air tragedies.

Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 carrying 298 people crashed in eastern Ukraine at around 10.15pm on July 17 (Malaysian time), near the Ukraine-Russia border.

The plane was flying from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur and was due to arrive at 6am the following day.

The US says it is convinced that the aircraft was shot down by a surface-to-air missile from the territory controlled by Russian-backed Ukrainian rebels.
