Three areas in the country registered unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings as at 9am today, compared with five areas last night.

According to the Department of Environment (DOE), the three areas are in Perak, namely Kampung Air Putih, Taiping (137), Sekolah Kebangsaan Jalan Pegoh in Ipoh (105) and Seri Manjung (107).

Meanwhile, 31 areas recorded moderate API readings and they included Pasir Gudang, Johor (62), Alor Setar, Kedah (61), Bandaraya Melaka (51), Jerantut, Pahang (57), Perai, Penang (72) and Keningau, Sabah (53).

An API reading of between zero and 50 indicates good air quality; between 51 and 100, moderate; between 101 and 200, unhealthy; between 201 and 300, very unhealthy and over 301, hazardous.
