Perkasa has jumped into the fray attempting to link an online attack on the Selangor royal family to the ongoing political crisis in the state.

Selangor Perkasa chief Abu Bakar Yahya described a foreign satire news website's report claiming that Selangor crown prince Tengku Amir Shah had converted to Christianity as a "planned" character assassination amid the state's political crisis.

PKR is attempting to replace Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim with its president Wan Azizah Wan Ismail ( left ) which will require the endorsement of its partners DAP and PAS aside from the Selangor sultan's consent.

Abu Bakar said he was not attempting to point fingers but alluded to”close links with foreign media of "certain party leaders".

"The rakyat are being fed with false news that can be easily believed... to insult the crown prince in order to distract attention from the state administration," he said.

The report entitled: "Malaysia: Crown prince converts to Catholicism, shocks Muslim world" was published on Thursday on World News Daily Report which describes itself as a "news and political satire web publication, which may or may not use real names, often in semi-real or mostly fictitious ways".

Inspector-General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar said yesterday that the Selangor palace has strongly denied the allegation, warning the public against spreading rumours.

Abu Bakar called for action to be taken against the perpetrators.

"Selangor Perkasa has no intention to interfere in the state administration but views seriously that the royal institution should not be politicised to benefit certain quarters who are willing to sully others," he said.
