Traffic remains slow moving along the highways heading to north and east from the city as at 9pm today while the traffic towards south remains under control.  

A spokesman for the Plus Expressways Traffic Control Centre when contacted by Bernama said north bound traffic witnessed congestion from Slim River to Sungkai and from Ipoh to Sungai Perak R&R.

"Traffic is also slow moving between Bidor and Tapah," he said.

Meanwhile, a spokesman of the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) said the eastward traffic on the Middle Ring Road 2 (MRR2) heading to the Gombak toll plaza and up to Bukit Tinggi is also slow.

Fine weather

Meanwhile, fine weather is forecast nationwide on the morning of Aidilfitri, expected to be celebrated on Monday.

However, intermittent rain is expected in several places in the coastal areas of Penang, Perak and Kedah, said the Meteorology Department in a statement today.

Intermittent rain is also forecast in one or two places in Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Johor, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Perak in the afternoon, as well as in Bintulu, Kapit, Miri and Limbang in Sarawak.

The department also forecast thunderstorm in several areas in Sandakan, Sabah, and intermittent rain in other divisions in the state.

In the evening, rain is forecast in several areas in Pahang, Johor, as well as Miri and Limbang in Sarawak, besides Sandakan and Tawau in Sabah.

In other states and divisions in Sabah and Sarawak, the weather is said to be fine.

Forecast for Tuesday

On the weather forecast for the second day of Aidilfitri, it is fine in Sarawak in the morning, while rainfall is predicted in the coastal areas in Perak, Selangor, Kudat and the east coast of Sabah and Labuan.

A thunderstorm is forecast in the afternoon in several areas in Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Johor and Perak, with intermittent rain in several areas in Kedah, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Negeri Sembilan.

Thunderstorm is also predicted to hit several areas in Kuching, namely Kuching, Samarahan, Bintulu, Kapit and Limbang, as well as in Sandakan and Tawau in Sabah.

In the evening, the department forecast rain in several places in Terengganu, Pahang, Johor, besides Kapit and Miri in Sarawak and Sandakan and Tawau in Sabah.

In other states, the weather is fine.
