Selangor PAS has dismissed speculations that it was planning to ditch Pakatan Rakyat to join forces with Umno to take over the state government after the scenario put forward by a senior leader of the Islamist party was leaked online.

Selangor PAS secretary Mohd Khairuddin Othman ( left ) distanced the state's leadership from PAS central committee Mohd Zuhdi Marzuki's Whatsapp message, stressing that the Islamist party remains loyal to Pakatan.

"There was no such discussion on any issues that he (Mohd Zuhdi) mentioned.

"Selangor PAS remains committed and loyal to Pakatan Rakyat," he was reported as saying in Sinar Harian .

Zuhdi, in a PAS central committee Whatsapp group had put forward a scenario where PAS would quit Pakatan to join forces with Umno on top of getting Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim and another PKR representative to defect in order to rule Selangor.

He described this as a return to Malay and Muslim dominance and non-Muslim complaints about religious freedom, such as on the ‘Allah’ case, can then be "swatted away (jentik)".

Mohd Khairuddin said Zuhdi's remarks were his personal analysis and view.

"The views were by Zuhdi which has no bearing on Selangor PAS as it is his personal view.

"We assure our Pakatan partners, we do not have any record of our state assemblyperson joining Umno or BN," he was quoted as saying.

The statement came as PKR accused certain quarters within PAS of being out to betray the federal opposition coalition while DAP called on the Islamist party to repair the damage to its image following the leak.

Meanwhile, Selangor MCA has jumped on the Mohd Zuhdi's apparent racial remarks, accusing DAP of having misled non-Muslim voters when it urged them to back PAS in the last general election.

"I hope DAP will come to its senses that PAS leaders are race-based, anti-democratic and power hungry at the expense of non-Muslims.

"The Rocket (DAP) should own up and concede to their non-Muslim supporters that it had deceived voters," said MCA vice-chairperson Ong Chong Swen in a statement.

Ong, who is also Selangor MCA Wanita chief, said DAP should demand for PAS' removal from Pakatan or quit the coalition.
