Water rationing in Selangor is unnecessary at present as the raw water supply is under control, said Lembaga Urus Air Selangor (Luas).
Its director, Md Khairi Selamat said optimal water released from Sungai Selangor dam and Sungai Tinggi dam are at 700 and 500 million litres daily (MLD) while the alternative ponds produce 500MLD.
"The other water sources are rivers due to cloud seeding by Luas with the Royal Malaysian Air Force, Meteorology Department and AF Jet Sdn Bhd, which covers the whole of Selangor," he said in a statement today.
Luas expects water production from alternative sources to increase to 800MLD next week and thus can reduce the release of water from the two dams.
The quantity of water from alternative ponds can provide supply until October when the northeast monsoon winds are expected to bring rain.
