Face-to-face with a M’sian jihadi in Syria

 

Ferdtan: Ahmad Salman Abdul Rahim said he is doing something for his Muslim brothers by fighting in the civil war in Syria.

 

He said he went to fight the ‘evil’ Syrian government forces in a ‘holy war’, a jihad, so that he can be closer to Allah.

 

This is what we don’t understand - who are the enemies? The Syrian government troops? Aren’t they not also Muslims too, though of a different sect, Alawite, a minor branch of Shiite Muslims?

 

Aren’t Shiites accepted as Muslims too? They are allowed to do pilgrimage to the Holy Land.

 

So, is this jihad about Sunni and Shiite enmity and not to get rid of the dictatorial government of Syria?

 

How can so many Muslim countries surrounding a small country, Israel, fight against it when they cannot stop killing one another? And on top of that, in the name of religion?

 

BTN: Each of them kill one another and both claim they are doing God's will and will go to heaven. I just don't get it.

 

Religion is supposed to give humanity sanity but it’s the opposite when it comes to these fanatics. Islam is really under threat and it’s not from other religions, but from its own fanatical followers.

MingXiang: Ahmad Salman is a misguided fanatic fancying himself to be a jihadi fighting a just cause for his Maker.

 

Probably he does not know that the Syrian army is non-sectarian and that the majority of the soldiers are Sunnis and not just Alawites, Christians, Kurds and Druze.

 

The civil war was hijacked by the Muslim brotherhood (Sunnis) and mercenaries funded by the Gulf states and Saudi Arabia, and it is inevitable that Sunnis will be killing Sunnis as well.

 

Hezbollah (Shiite) is already involved the civil war, fighting on the side of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, but they will soon have to contend with the Sunnis in Lebanon, who will be armed with French weaponry funded by the Saudis to the tune of US$3 billion.

 

The extremely violent ISIS (Islamic State in Iraq and Syria) troops, meanwhile, are now at the western border of Syria and are moving in to take on Assad's forces as well.

 

The Israelis are standing by happily watching the Muslims killing and weakening one another. What a mess.

 

And what of our jihadi? Probably now looking for a glass of water to quench his thirst.

 

Multi Racial: On the home front, there are more reasons to fight. Massive corruption and unfair treatment of Malaysians.

 

There are so many Malaysians who remain poor and live in poverty because of corruption. Ahmad Salman just has got his priority wrong.

 

Violence has not and will not solve problems. We do not condone violence, regardless of who you fight for.

 

Centurion: So, Ahmad Salman was helped by an ustaz in Malaysia who was a 'fixer'. How many ustaz fixers are there in this country?

 

Do we need any more proof that this country is going the Taliban way? Be warned as this is only the tip of the iceberg.

 

Survivor: Ahmad Salman should serve in the Malaysian army and protect the country. You think you are a jihadi by killing another Muslim brother, whether Shiite or Sunni?

 

Do you think Allah is pleased? Do you think your parents are not worried for you, day and night? You are Allah's beloved creation and born of flesh to your parents.

 

Value your life to honour your parents and your country and serve your Allah by living a compassionate live with a loving heart to help the less fortunate and the impoverished people in your country.

 

Anticonmen: History is replete with so much violence caused by men from a Semitic faith who think that their God is the only true God and all else are praying to false Gods and hence can be killed in the name of God.

 

The root cause is the egomanicism of such men who think that they are special and chosen by God to defend Him.

 

How could violence against fellow men be considered holy? Do you have to fight your brother and use violence just because he calls God by a different name?

 

The root of the problem is you think with grossly twisted logic, like many of the fanatics and racists who think they are special and the chosen people and that their God is the only and true God.

 

Lionking: Jihad should be fought every day, against greed, anger, attachment, lust and ego.

 

We need to have a jihad here too, against corruption, crime and the very shabby education standards. Killing a Shiite or a Sunni cannot be considered a gift to God.
