Malaysia should review its participation in the Trans Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPPA), which is initiated by the United States, following Israel's attacks against Gaza for the past few weeks, a PKR MP said today.

 

Lembah Pantai MP Nurul Izzah Anwar said that the US is also culpable for the attacks against Gaza as it is supplying weapons to Israel and is also offering Israel protection.

 

"Israel would not afford to commit violent attacks and the past attacks on Gaza if US had taken a strong position to ensure peace and safety for the Palestinian people," she said in a statement today.

 

"This must be taken into consideration before an agreement like TPPA is signed," she added.

Nurul ( left ) also asked for a disclosure of Malaysian companies who have business relations with Israel, and exercise sanctions against these companies.

 

She asked Malaysia to follow the example of Chile, the South American nation who swiftly suspended trade talks with Israel over the outbreak of the Gaza violence.

 

"Such actions clearly shows solidarity with the people of Palestine, under the name of humanity, and must be followed by other civilised countries," she said.

 

Yesterday, International Trade and Industries Minister Mustapa Mohamed said that Malaysia is reviewing relations with multinational companies from China, Japan and the US who have business relations with Israel.
