The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission has lambasted PKR for dragging it into the party's internal issues.

It said that PKR leaders' claim that MACC will practice selective investigation and not probe Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim is "irresponsible and malicious".

"The MACC would like to remind the party not to link MACC into PKR's tussles without any concrete proof...

"MACC stresses that any complaint or credible information received will be investigated, regardless of position, political affliation, race, religion and so on," its operations deputy chief commissioner Mohd Shukri Abdull said in a statement.

He was referring to a Malay Mail Online report quoting Saifuddin as saying that Khalid will not be investigated as MACC practices selective prosecution.

Malaysiakini earlier reported that PKR strategy director Rafizi Ramli is not surprised by Selangor Menteri Besar lodging a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) against himself on allegations of doubts to his integrity.

Rafizi said this was because Khalid himself knew that it would be hard for the MACC to take any action against him.

“Just look at the misuse of funds in the National Feedlot Corporation (NFC or 'Cowgate') 'scandal. MACC had earlier on announced that it was not an issue of corruption and that Shahrizat Jalil was not guilty.

“With Khalid trying to use the MACC to clear his name, it is just as similar as MACC announcing that there was no malpractice in the NFC scandal,” Rafizi said in a statement today.

Khalid yesterday lodged a report with the MACC, asking it to investigate questions surrounding his integrity, as alleged by PKR.

The Selangor menteri besar sent a delegation, led by his chief private secretary Mohamad Yazid Bidin, to the Selangor MACC office where a copy of the document tendered by PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail at a press conference recently was handed over.

Khalid must reveal deal with Bank Islam

PKR, in a 91-page document it handed to PAS , explained that Khalid’s court dispute over his debt with Bank Islam was the central issue to remove him as menteri besar.

In settling his personal RM59.5 million debt with Bank Islam, PKR alleged that the person who brokered the out-of-court settlement had benefited from the state through a project awarded soon after the Bank Islam settlement was hammered out.

As such, Rafizi today urged Khalid to reveal the terms of his agreement with Bank Islam.

“If he’s not ready to reveal the terms of the agreement, then he should have filed a defamation suit against me before lodging a report with the MACC.

“Until now, he has not taken any legal action against me or Saifuddin. I think this is because he does not want to give a sworn statement in court on his secret agreement with Bank Islam.”

The Pandan MP then went on to challenge Khalid to sue him before Friday (tomorrow) ends, if he “has nothing to hide”.

Khalid has been called in for an inquiry before the PKR disciplinary board at 3pm tomorrow, to respond to the controversial issues that have prompted calls for him to be replaced.
