Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin is "recklessly" stoking tension by claiming there is basis to allegations that the authorities are slow in acting against non-Malays on insensitive online content, said Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng today.

The DAP secretary general said that Muhyiddin is continuing to "hammer" at Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's 1Malaysia motto with his statement.

He said that Muhyiddin should not "racialise" the rule of law but must ensure that justice is fair for all.

"Najib should stop Muhyiddin from racialising the pursuit of justice and affirm our commitment towards our fundamental constitutional right of equality before the law," he added.

Lim argued that it was Pakatan Rakyat leaders who suffered from double standards and selective persecution.

"Is there any stern action against those who demonstrated outside former Bersih co-chair Ambiga Sreenevasan’s home with butt exercises?" he asked in a statement.

"Or why was there no action against the lies made by former chief justice Abdul Hamid Mohamad that the Penang state government was anti-Islam merely because it permitted prayers of an NGO’s private building in Penang to be conducted by Muslim, Hindu and Christian priests?" he asked.

Lim said that while there is swift action taken when someone posts threats to federal government leaders, no action has been taken on numerous death threats directed at Lim himself in spite of several police reports being made.
