Selangor executive council (exco) members will not meet with Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim today but will instead only meet him tomorrow during the official weekly exco meeting.

A source from the Selangor exco office told Malaysiakini that DAP excos are waiting for their party’s instruction and would not be meeting Khalid individually for this reason.

Khalid ( right ) had yesterday said that he would like meet with them today, to interview exco members individually in order to determine whether they are willing to work with him following his sacking from PKR.

"The exco members will attend the meeting tomorrow, all of them. PKR will also be present," said the source who did not want to be named.

PKR is expected to issue a statement on the status of their exco members today.

However, PAS exco member Dr Ahmad Yunus Hairi later told reporters that he had what appeared to be an informal meeting with Khalid today.

Ahmad told reporters waiting in the lobby of the State Secretariat building that the meeting was on how to administer the state if some exco members resigned, but did not dwell deeply on the matter.

“There was no discussion (or decision), just two, three minutes of talk on how the exco members who might stay could administer the state,” he said.

'Four exco members needed to adminster state'

Khalid had previously said any exco member who is not willing to work with him could resign as Selangor only needs only four exco members to continue administering the state.

DAP and PKR have three exco members in the state government while PAS, the sole party in Pakatan Rakyat that is still backing Khalid, has four.

Meanwhile, state secretary Khusrin Munawir, when met, confirmed that Khalid's meeting with the exco members will only take place tomorrow.

'It's business as usual'

"There is no meeting today. The meeting is tomorrow," Khusrin said briefly before leaving the state secretariat building in Shah Alam.

Journalists have converged there since morning in anticipation of a meeting between the party-less Abdul Khalid and exco members from Pakatan.

DAP's senior exco member Teng Chang Khim ( left ) when met likewise denied any meeting with Khalid, adding that the notice for a meeting tomorrow has already been issued.

Teng reiterated he will still serve as an exco member pending further instructions as DAP has yet to instruct him to resign.

"I abide by my party's instruction. If I am asked to resign, I will resign. I am still receiving the salary as an exco member," he said.

Another exco member, Elizabeth Wong of PKR, merely smiled but did not speak to the media when met.

However, Wong's aide said her boss was at the state secretariat building for work, where the exco members' offices are, and not to meet with Khalid.
