Right smack in the midst of the Selangor menteri besar crisis, PKR will announce its internal election results tomorrow.

PKR election director Johari Abdul said he will make an official announcement on the results by 3pm tomorrow at a press conference at the party’s headquarters in Tropicana, Kuala Lumpur.

“At the moment, I am typing up all the loose ends, doing the paperwork and completing the data entries,” Johari ( right ) told Malaysiakini , when contacted.

“We have completed all the elections in problematic divisions and I am looking into all those to make sure everything is all right,” he added.

When told that unofficial results of the party’s polls have surfaced, Johari said, “Don’t believe it.”

“I knew this would happen,” he added.

Based on unofficial results obtained by Malaysiakini ,  Azmin Ali appeared poised to win the deputy president post.

According to the tally,  Azmin won the post with 22,557 votes against incumbent secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, who managed to garner only 10,742 votes.

Khalid Ibrahim, who previously came in second to Azmin, was sacked from the party on Sunday.

If the results are correct, this would be the second time Azmin has retained the post, which he previously won in 2010 against Mustafa Kamil Ayub, a former vice-president.

Another contender for the deputy president post then, Zaid Ibrahim, had pulled out from the race and later left the party in a huff.

The PKR polls began in March, with voting in May, and saw 27 divisions suspended due to chaos and election fraud.

In Selangor alone, 11 out of 22 branches were suspended, with Kelana Jaya and Puchong conducting their polls last Sunday.

Wafer-thin majority for Amirudin

Meanwhile, the combo team of Amirudin Shari and Dr Afif Bahardin, both loyal allies of Azmin, appear to have won the national youth chief and deputy youth chief posts.

Amirudin has allegedly won by a wafer thin majority of 40, winning with 4,247 votes against Selangor legislative assembly deputy speaker Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad.

Another candidate for the youth chief post, Nazree Yunus, was left far behind with 2,195 votes.

As for the vice-president posts, MPs Nurul Izzah Anwar has reportedly captured 28,729 votes, leading the race from Tian Chua’s 21,421 votes and Shamsul Iskandar Md Akin’s 19,828 votes.

Well-known party strategist and Pandan MP Rafizi Ramli is said to have managed to grab 18,885 votes, only 200 more than Sri Andalas assemblyperson Dr Xavier Jeyakumar.
