Wan Azizah gets royal snub over MB crisis

Gerard Lourdesamy: The palace is following procedure and protocol (in rejecting PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail's request for an audience to explain the ongoing menteri besar crisis.)

 

Firstly, Wan Azizah can only be granted audience with Selangor sultan if she has the support of at least 29 Aduns (state representatives) given in writing (for example, a statutory declaration) and they must be prepared to vouch for her in the presence of the sultan if required.

                                                           

Secondly, if PAS is on board, then the leaders of PAS and DAP should also give letters of support to Wan Azizah to be appended to her letter to the ruler requesting for the audience.

 

Better still, if the leaders of PAS and DAP also seek an audience with the ruler to express their support for Wan Azizah.

 

Thirdly, if after all of this the ruler still refuses the audience, then the Aduns should make their move in the State Legislative Assembly by requesting the sultan through the speaker to convene an emergency sitting to debate the no-confidence motion.

 

If this fails, they will have to wait until the budget session in November to table the motion or vote against the budget. Then the ruler will know what to do with Khalid. 

 

Multi Racial: This is an opportunity for the sultan to stand above politics, race and religion. Indeed, it is an opportunity for HRH (His Royal Highness) to show leadership.

 

It does not make sense for the sultan to refuse to meet Wan Azizah. She is the PKR leader and surely she deserves the sultan’s hearing. The sultan must not see her as weak and a woman. She is, after all, an elected representative of the rakyat. 

 

I urge the sultan to remain neutral and stand by the rakyat.

 

Malaysians see this episode as PAS playing out their partners in Pakatan big time. It means they cannot be trusted.

 

I hope the moderates in PAS will prevent this from happening as it is the only hope to save the party. Umno and PAS teaming up will mean the end of PAS and the rise of Umno again.

 

LKT: Umno is in full gear to take over Selangor through various maneouvres. The palace is doing its bit to frustrate all the efforts to replace Khalid.

 

Of course, with "friends" like PAS who needs enemy. The treachery of PAS will not be forgotten come GE14 or the next state election.

Umno and the palace must look at the election results in GE13. The voice of the people is clear - they do not want Umno to run the state.

 

Awakened: Based on my analysis, Wan Azizah should only see the sultan after Pakatan has settle the MB issue. It is premature to see the sultan now.

 

But why only now that PKR make such a move? I suspected that this is done after PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim met PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang.

 

There could be some understanding between Abdul Hadi and Anwar that the sultan might not be happy with Wan Azizah and Hadi is willing to support an alternative candidate from PKR as MB.

 

This will be the way for PAS, PKR and DAP to get out of their current predicament. Now they can use this refusal by the sultan to grant audience to Wan Azizah as an excuse to change the candidate from PKR.

 

PKR just need to nominate another candidate. In this way, it shows respect to both the sultan and PAS. PKR deputy president Azmin Ali could be the right choice at the moment.

 

I hope this will solve the current imbroglio. It is better to change the candidate and still have someone from PKR as MB rather than to lose the whole state to BN.

 

Drngsc: With all due respect, a fair ruler must listen to both sides of the issues. Sometimes I wonder if HRH is backing Umno?

 

Some of his actions are difficult to understand. Listening to one side but not the other?


Anonymous_1407410978: Wan Azizah wanted an audience but she did not write the letter to request for an audience.

 

She is party president and she is her party's choice for MB. Yet she has to get the de facto party leader to write the request for her? If you were the sultan, would you not be slightly offended?

 

Mushiro: I hope the sultan is not avoiding Wan Azizah as she already have the SDs of more than 30 Aduns.

 

Kangkung 1M: The rakyat of Selangor voted PKR, not Khalid. Let’s join hand and demand the rightful MB be installed immediately. This another Perak crisis in the making.

 

Fair Play: Anwar, move on. I dare say only in Penang would there be any likelihood of a woman chief minister in the near future.

 

Reconcile with PAS as accordingly to reports, they asked you for the name of another person. At least, we all know now whether we are living in the modern age or still in some other bygone era.

 

Isana: It looks like the drama in Perak is about to be reignited in Selangor. The hidden hands are pandering to back an illegal take over of a democratically elected state government.
