Mujahid: Curb politicking, let's rebuild country
PAS central committee member Mujahid Yusof Rawa wants Pakatan to reduce politicking and focus on rebuilding the foundations of the country by throwing out racism, extremism and prejudice.
PAS central committee member Mujahid Yusof Rawa, wants Pakatan to reduce politicking and focus on rebuilding the foundations of the country by throwing out racism, extremism and prejudice.
In a statement today, he admitted that the handling of the Selangor MB issue took a time to settle but pointed out that bigger challenges are fast approaching.
“The future of Pakatan is being watched by the people on how consensus is maintained by the three component parties in order to compete with BN. The determination (of the Selangor MB’s post) has to be decided by all three parties and not be given to the party whose member holds the post.”
Mujahid who is also Parit Buntar MP said, a Pakatan member party should not force other Pakatan partners to accept their party's agenda without it being debated wholly until consensus and compromise is reached.
He said following the recent episode, Pakatan partners should work towards improving themselves to continue with the national and the people’s agenda.
“We should reduce politicking which is futile, and focus on main issues,” he said.
Pakatan, he added failed to utilise conflict management skills in handling this crisis and this has resulted in the trust given by the people to erode.
“We have to think beyond Pakatan versus BN, towards rebuilding the basic foundations of the country and focus on factors which are destroying national unity like racism, extremism, and prejudice which encourages narrow thinking,” he said.
Mujahid added there is a trend among the younger generation of Pakatan leaders who want to escape from the thinking of seasoned Pakatan leaders who carry historical baggage with them.
He was commenting on the recent criticism of PAS over its delay in supporting the removal of Selangor MB Khalid Ibrahim ( left ).
PKR had sacked Khalid for not abiding by the party's wishes, but the PAS syura council then came out in support of the incumbent MB.
The PAS central committee meeting yesterday proposed PKR deputy president Azmin Ali along with PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail to be jointly nominated for the post of Selangor MB and their names sent to the sultan.
However the Pakatan meeting yesterday afternoon which PAS attended, however decided to propose only Wan Azizah' as S’gor MB to the sultan.
