An unscheduled disruption of water supply in several areas of Sabak Bernam and Hulu Selangor since last Wednesday has ended and supply has now been restored.

Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Syabas) said in a statement that the water supply to the affected areas had been gradually restored since midnight last night.

The disruption of the water supply was due to the closing of the Water Treatment Plant (LRA) at the Bernam River Headwork (BRH), Sabak Bernam, due to an oil spill.

“Operations at LRA BRH managed by Puncak Niaga (M) Sdn Bhd (PNSB) was temporarily closed from Aug 20 because of river water pollution which supplies raw water to the water treatment plant, as a result of diesel spill,” the statement said.

BRH LRA operations were carried out at about 5.30pm yesterday evening after PNSB found the water in the river was pollution free, the statement said.
